The key development today is not one source-market increase or a single resort event, but the simultaneous move toward greater specificity in markets, rules and content. Australia reached 34,142 arrivals, providing a long-haul growth signal. The implementation date for offshore-seller tourism GST and the parliamentary motion affect pricing, margins and contractual responsibility. Six resort stories translate fourth-quarter selling points into verifiable dates, experiences and certification scores.

Trade partners therefore cannot complete a sale with generic claims such as “market growth,” “rich festive programming” or “sustainable resort.” Market figures need cut-off dates; tax reporting must distinguish enacted law from a motion that has not passed; activities require confirmation of whether they are included in the meal plan or room rate; and marine or outdoor experiences need clear limits covering weather, visibility, licensed operation and on-site clearance.

All five stations forecast slight showers on 19 September. Hulhule, Hanimaadhoo, Kadhdhoo and Kaadehdhoo show moderate seas, while Gan shows slight seas. Weather and Sea Conditions

All five MMS Tomorrow cards correspond to 19 September 2026 and were updated at approximately 05:40–05:50 Maldives time on 18 September. The national and regional marine forecasts are valid from 10:00 on 18 September to 10:00 on 19 September, Maldives time. Isolated showers with a few thunderstorms are expected, with west to north-westerly winds of 7–17 mph. The national sea state is moderate, with combined wave heights of 2–5 feet and no advisory.

Temperatures range from 31–32°C. Hanimaadhoo, Kadhdhoo and Kaadehdhoo each show winds of 12 mph. Regional waves are 2–5 feet in the north and central areas and 1–3 feet in the south-central and southern areas. A station reading of slight or moderate seas does not guarantee operation of any route, dive site or resort activity.

• Action: On the morning of 19 September, focus on 2–5 foot waves in the north and central areas and isolated thunderstorms nationwide. 1. Australian arrivals rise 19% through 13 September

Ministry data reported by MMTV on 17 September showed 34,142 Australian arrivals through 13 September, up from 28,491 in the same period last year. Australia grew 19%, represented 2.3% of arrivals and ranked ninth, while total arrivals reached 1,484,097. Maldivian launched Melbourne services on 18 May and plans a weekly scheduled A330 service from next year.

Dolphin view: Australia can move from a supplementary market to a priority long-haul test market, but 19% growth does not mean every resort will gain equally. Build stays and domestic or seaplane buffers around flight days, then segment by length of stay, family profile and diving demand.

2. Addu reiterates targets for 6,000 beds and 10,000 jobs

On 17 September, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Ameen outlined plans to use the Asseyri Tourism model for 6,000 tourism beds, 10,000 jobs and a seaplane hub in Addu, extending growth toward the south. These are planning targets, not operating beds or an active seaplane hub.

Dolphin view: Addu’s value lies in long-term southern supply and connectivity. Track project contracts, openings, Gan flights and final-leg transfers; add them to quotations only when operating dates and sellable beds are confirmed.

3. Parliamentary motion seeks delay to 17% tourism GST for offshore sellers

Sun Online reported on 18 September that Parliament had received a motion seeking to delay the GST amendment. The enacted amendment brings offshore booking platforms, foreign tour operators and travel agents without a Maldives entity under 17% tourism GST from 1 October. The motion remains part of the parliamentary process and does not mean that the tax or effective date has changed.

Dolphin view: Model October bookings under current law and state tax responsibility, repricing and cancellation terms clearly. Change customer quotations and supplier settlement only after an official authority or enacted text changes implementation.

4. Malé Taxi app completes 157,971 trips in three months

MTCC said the Malé Taxi app completed 157,971 trips and registered 52,790 users between its 2 June launch and the 17 September report. The government service operates 150 electric vehicles around the clock, supports advance booking, wallet, card and scan payments, and uses different vehicle sizes for Malé roads and journeys involving Malé, Hulhumalé, Velana airport and luggage.

Dolphin view: This is a Greater Malé backup option, not a substitute for a confirmed hotel or airport transfer. Explain registration, payment, luggage and waiting-time uncertainty, and keep extra time plus a second option for international departures.

5. Sun Siyam Iru Veli and Vilu Reef detail 1–7 October Golden Week programmes

Sun Siyam Iru Veli and Vilu Reef announced Golden Week programming for 1–7 October on 18 September. Iru Veli lists Chinese-inspired food, hotpot, lantern-lit beach evenings, herbal wellness, children’s cultural activities and watersports. Vilu Reef includes Chinese live cooking, seafood barbecues, family cinema by the sea, wellness, diving, Seabob and snorkelling, with both resorts combining Chinese holiday cues and Maldivian elements.

Dolphin view: Sell the two islands separately and never transfer one island’s activity into the other’s entitlements. Confirm dates, Chinese-language support, charges, children’s ages, dive qualifications, marine capacity and weather cancellation rules.

6. Kuredhivaru divides late September and October into three event clusters

Kuredhivaru Resort and Spa published its autumn calendar on 18 September: a six-course Japanese-Peruvian dinner with cocktails by Japanese bartender Norihiko Furuse on 26 September; Oktoberfest food, live music and games on 3 October; and children’s club activities, costume making, a family fashion show, pumpkin carving, games and themed dining on 30–31 October.

Dolphin view: The three dates target dining, festival and family guests and should be marketed separately. Verify prices, beverages, meal-plan credits, child age limits, capacity and wet-weather venues; do not assume the whole calendar is included in the room rate.

7. Anantara Kihavah Villas highlights resident astronomy for 19 September

On 18 September, Anantara used International Astronomy Day on 19 September to present resident SKY Edhurus Ali Arushal and Sajidha at Anantara Kihavah Villas. The observatory and telescope support guided viewing of targets such as Saturn’s rings and star clusters while connecting astronomy with Maldivian storytelling. Visibility still depends on cloud, weather and observation time.

Dolphin view: Astronomy is a differentiated product that can be explained in advance during the rainy season, but no celestial target should be guaranteed. Confirm schedule, language, charges, child suitability and rain alternatives, and never equate telescope capability with that night’s visibility.

8. Patina Maldives schedules autumn content through November

Patina Maldives updated The Perpetual Journey on 18 September: Aishath Shuaila from 22 September to 10 October; Yardbird dining from 6–10 October; Shezad Dawood’s art residency from 18 October to 8 November; an FC Bayern Munich junior football camp led by Jonas Caryot for ages 6–17 from 25–29 October; and a 7–9 November Diwali programme with chef Atul Kochhar, mixologist Giancarlo Mancino and DJ Sakré.

Dolphin view: Target art, junior sport and Diwali audiences separately instead of using one generic message. Confirm that stays cover the event dates, as well as football places and ages, dining supplements, art reservations and cancellation terms.

9. Ellaidhoo Maldives by Cinnamon states manta-trip timing and sea limits

On 18 September, Ellaidhoo Maldives by Cinnamon described a Dive & Sail manta excursion into North Ari Atoll. It leaves after breakfast at 08:00 and takes about 1 hour 40 minutes to two hours each way, depending on sea conditions and where mantas are gathering. The experience extends beyond the house reef, but wildlife sightings, sailing time and water entry cannot be guaranteed.

Dolphin view: Sell the clear departure time, professional operation and North Ari setting, not a guaranteed encounter. Confirm price, minimum numbers, swimming ability, seasickness risk, equipment and cancellation terms, subject to the MMS update and licensed team’s on-site clearance.

10. Green Globe scores rise across five Aitken Spence Maldives resorts

Aitken Spence Hotels announced on 18 September that five Maldives resorts passed Green Globe Certification Standard 1.7 for hotels and resorts. Heritance Aarah rose from 87% to 91%, Adaaran Meedhupparu from 87% to 89%, Adaaran Rannalhi from 88% to 89%, Adaaran Hudhuranfushi from 87% to 88%, and Adaaran Vadoo from 86% to 87%. The group says its Maldives portfolio has worked with external certification bodies since 2017.

Dolphin view: Score improvement under one certification supports corporate procurement and sustainability screening, but does not replace island-level experiences or specific environmental measures. Retain the certification name, year and property score in sales material, then verify guest-facing projects, dates, charges and capacity separately.

Together, today’s ten developments point to one operating shift: market growth must be matched with flights and stay weeks, regulatory change must be absorbed through contracts and tax-inclusive pricing, and resort content must be broken into experiences that can be booked, delivered and replaced when conditions change.
